Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re probably aware that the Amazon produced film series The Rings of Powerhas debuted on Amazon Prime! The production value of the show, music and casting is spot on and viewers will have much to look forward to each week when new episodes drop.
The Lord of the Rings franchise has enjoyed several successful tabletop adaptations including the Games Workshop produced Middle Earth miniatures strategy game, The Lord of the Rings Card Game, and of course the full fledge War of the Ring game.
War of the Ring is essentially an epic Risk style game where players pit off against one another as the evil hordes of Sauron verses the free peoples of Middle Earth. While excellent, this game does take hours to play properly, and the card game version will be perfect for a (slightly) quicker version of play when it releases this November.
In War of the Ring: The Card Game, up to 4 players compete in two teams (the Shadow against the Free Peoples) with each player using a specific and different card deck representing the strengths and weaknesses of the different factions involved in the war. Cards are drawn and utilized by each side to either aid or abet the Fellowship as it aims to complete its quest. Over 100 gorgeous illustrations which feature landscapes from Mordor to The Shire really take this game to the next level and capture the detailed, gritty, fantasy feel of the franchise as a whole.
