Dungeons & Dragons storytelling meets Magic’s most social format in a new crossover multiplayer experience for the ages. Turn every Commander game into an adventure with iconic D&D characters and spells! The set takes place in the Forgotten Realms, and focuses on the city of Baldur’s Gate, which is under attack by the forces of Avernus and the Dead Three: Bhaal, Lord of Murder; Myrkul, Lord of Bones; Bane, Lord of Darkness.
Players will create their own powerful character from the ground up with the return of Commander Draft. This is the second set in Magic the Gathering history that has been designed specifically for drafting, and is an extra large set to boot! There will be both reprints of Commander cards in addition to new cards, including 85 legendary creatures and planeswalkers.
We’ll be hosting prerelease events for Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate this weekend, and we have events in both Commander and Standard Sealed format for players to choose from. Here’s the difference between the two:
- Commander Draft Events will be run according to the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate Prerelease guidelines provided by Wizards. Players will draft one round and play one game of Commander. Players will compete in groups of 4 (if possible) to win the table. In an effort to make sure all players get some form of prize support, we’ll be offering “Commander Challenges” for players to complete in their groups to win additional prizes.
- Standard Sealed Events will be run as a sealed event – no drafting. Prerelease kits will only come with 3 20-card booster packs. The event will be in Swiss pairings, with 3 rounds.
In addition, we have a Take Home option where you can pick up your kit to open at home. We can’t wait to see what this new set has in store, and what our MtG community thinks of it. Join us for a prerelease event and let us know!
