Game Review: Disney Villainous Core Set from Ravensburger

March 5, 2023

Everyone loves a good villain and Disney has had some of the best. In Disney Villainous each player takes on the role of one of six iconic characters to try to complete their dastardly deeds and evil machinations.  Characters in the core set include fan favorites like Ursula, Maleficent, and Jafar along with classics like Captain Hook, Prince John, and the Queen of Hearts. A game of Villainous plays out quickly (less than an hour) but that doesn’t mean there isn’t strategy involved. As you move your character through their individual realm, other players control the heroes and situations that keep your villain from fulfilling their objective. This means that everyone plays a villain but also gets some time to shine as the hero of each story as well. The game is excellent for two players, but the strategic elements really shine in multiplayer that can go as high as six players.

Numerous excellent expansions currently exist that allow you to further explore the various landscapes of the Disney multiverse. Cleverly named, these expansions such as “Evil to the Core” featuring the Evil Queen and her poison apples, and “Evil Comes Prepared” featuring everyone’s favorite Lion King villain Scar can be played alone or combined with the core set.

Disney Villainous is a 2-6 player game that takes less than an hour, is rated for ages 10+ and has a low complexity rating when it comes to the game rules. So, if you are looking for a fun way to pass the time with a few friends and relive some nostalgic moments from Disney history this game is for you. Also, if Disney Villains aren’t your thing there are now both Marvel and Star Wars Villainous games available for purchase. No matter what your fandom Ravensburger has the game for you. Now get out there and start conquering the world or at least your own personal realm.
