Kill Team

August 6, 2018

Have you ever seen Predator? Most people have, I think. Have you ever wanted to recreate the gripping tension of a small, well-trained group of operatives trying to survive an assault from a deadly and horrifying alien foe?

Good news – you can recreate that tense, dramatic feeling in the brand new Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team game.

Warhammer Kill Team

Kill Team is a slightly stripped-down, small-format adaptation of Warhammer 40K. Instead of being the commander of a large Space Marine insertion force or managing the surgical precision of a T’au hunter cadre, Kill Team puts you in control of just one small squad of soldiers, trying desperately to accomplish a number of important missions against a deadly enemy team.

The best part about Kill Team? It requires a fraction of the investment that a full Warhammer 40k army needs. Most Kill Team forces can be built with just one or two boxes of troops, and a low model count means that customization is key to really make your troops special and unique.

Warhammer Kill Team Core Box

If you want to get into Kill Team with a friend, I highly recommend the Kill Team Core box. It contains two forces for your enjoyment as well as a large, customizable set of terrain for your Kill Teams to fight over. Whether you choose the augmented warriors of the Martian Adeptus Mechanicus, or the insidious Genestealer Cult of abhuman mutants, you’ll find a solid value in the core box.

My Kill Team of choice is a small group of well-trained Tempestus Scions, some of the best warriors mankind has to offer (short of becoming a Space Marine, of course).

Perhaps you’re a fan of the brutish Orks, and their “shoot first, chop second, ask questions never” style of warfare. A box of Ork Boyz and maybe some of their more elite Lootas & Burnas will do you just fine.

Or instead, say you want to serve the Emperor of Mankind as a member of the valiant alien-hunting Deathwatch. Grab a Deathwatch Kill Team, appropriately enough, and you’re set.

The main point is, Kill Team is a great way for anyone to get a taste of the 41st millennium, even if you don’t have the time or money to invest in a full 40K army. With new expansions and kits being released soon, it’s a fantastic time to jump into the grim darkness of the far future and join the fight today.
