Obi-Wan is one of the most beloved figures in the Star Wars universe, and fans will be pleased to know that he is now the titular character of a five issue miniseries!
Writer Christopher Cantwell does a magnificent job crafting Obi-Wan’s character arc in this story, telling it through the journals of Obi-Wan as he bides his time on Tattooine. Included in this series will be a recounting of his days as a young Jedi Initiate, his trials as a Padawan, the crucible of Jedi Knighthood and the Clone Wars, and some of the earliest challenges he faced as a true Master of the Force.
Issue number one released on Star Wars day, May 4th, and if it is any indication of how the rest of the story will evolve, this is a must-read for any Star Wars fan. The central focus seems to be an examination of Obi-Wan’s character development from adolescence to adulthood. Cantwell is magnificent at capturing the voice of Obi-Wan, and provides a great deal of insight into the past of this iconic Jedi.
Readers will have to wait until June 22nd for the second issue to release, but we’ll be well sated with content in the meantime given the release of the highly anticipated series Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ this Friday May 27th!
