Top Picks from Our Employee of the Month

February 8, 2026

Congrats to Our Employee of The Month; Ian!

Here at Dragon’s Lair Austin, our crew diligently votes on their Employee of The Month- and we thought it would be fun to start doing a spotlight feature for each winner and their favorite products in the store. Starting things off is our December 2025 Employee of The Month; Ian! Ian has been with us since 2020 and is currently our Receiving Manager (aka the person who scurries as fast as they can to get TCG product out when shipments show up late on release day, among many other responsibilities). Ian is recognized for their hard work during the holiday season with powering through all our orders, being an incredible team player, and for always knowing the names of the most random D list Star Wars characters. Check out what they put down for their top items in the shop:

———————————————————————————-

Werewolf The Apocalypse (RPG by Renegade Game Studios)
“Most people are familiar with the World of Darkness via the Vampire of The Masquerade series, but hear me out- what about rage-against-the-system Werewolves? In Werewolf the Apocalypse, fight against the corporate forces set on killing the earth, all while dealing with the threat of turning into a mindless monster. Truly power fantasy at its finest with all the social intrigue that the World of Darkness is known for.”

2020’s Batman: Black & White (DC Graphic Novel)
“The way that some stories just shine better in black & white is something that should be studied, and I would pitch 2020’s Batman: Black & White to be on that curriculum. Published for the 25th anniversary of the original Batman: Black & White, the return of this anthology series really felt like a passion project for the various artists and writers involved. If nothing else, the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Riddler story is one that any comic fan must read!”

Starship Godzilla (New IDW Comic Series)
“For the first time the Godzilla mythos takes to the stars and explores the many aliens that fill its world- following a ragtag team at the helm in Mechagodzilla! Where space western meets the Tokusatsu genre, the possibilities are truly endless for intergalactic hijinks in this new series.”

Super Late Bloomer (Indie Graphic Novel by Julia Kaye)
“A heartwarming comic memoir following Julia Kaye’s struggles with life, relationships, and transitioning- all wrapped up in a heartfelt approachable collection. Super Late Bloomer is an early glimpse into Julia’s gender transition through stories shared during the run of her popular web series; UP and OUT. It’s personal, it’s sweet, and 10 years later it’s still just as relevant as when it was first started.”

Escape the Dark Sector (Board Game by Themeborne)
“A game for those who love a challenge with a gorgeous early RPG art style. It may be grim, brutal, and unforgiving- but with proper player cooperation, this game gives a feeling like no other when you finally pull off a win!”
