Spotlight On: Batman The Long Halloween

November 3, 2023

There’s no better time to read (or re-read) Batman: The Long Halloween than on October 31st! This 13 issue limited series was published in the mid 1990’s and still remains a fan favorite decades later, and widely heralded as one of the best Dark Knight comics of all time.

The creative team of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale bring this mystery to life in a thrilling tale featuring a new villain, Holiday – a murderer that only kills on holidays. Batman has his hands full as usual juggling trying to catch Holiday while navigating a crime war being waged between some of Gothams most powerful families. Enemies such as Two-Face, Scarecrow, the Joker, Poison Ivy, Riddler and Mat Hatter are featured, and even the elusive Calendar Man. The clock keeps ticking as our masked vigilante races to prevent the next death.

This story can be read as a stand-alone, but also follows in continuity from Batman Year One. This is the gritty dark knight portrayal of Batman that Nolan referenced in his acclaimed films. Grab a copy today, curl up, and fly through the pages while you answer the door for those trick-or-treaters! If you see a Batman costume, be sure to give a bonus treat.
