Gundam fans, get ready! The Gundam Card Game, a new trading card game (TCG) is set to launch globally this year! This game will be available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, with simultaneous releases across all three languages. Haven’t heard of it yet? Let’s walk you through what to expect:
Game Overview
The Gundam Card Game allows players to engage in strategic battles using Mobile Suits and Pilots from the expansive “Mobile Suit Gundam” series. Players construct a 50-card deck comprising four distinct card types:
• Unit Cards: Featuring various Mobile Suits.
• Pilot Cards: Showcasing operators who can enhance Unit capabilities.
• Base Cards: Representing battle ships and key locations.
• Command Cards: Offering strategic actions and events.
A unique feature of this game is the ability to attach Pilots to Units, increasing their power. Designated pairings, known as “Linked Units,” provide additional strategic depth. The game supports multiple play modes, including standard 1 vs. 1 matches, “Team Battles” (2 vs. 2), and “Battle Royale” formats for three or more players.
Edition Beta Release
Ahead of the official launch, Bandai will release the “Gundam Card Game Edition Beta” which offers players an early experience of the game and includes:
• 16 Edition Beta Booster packs (9 cards per pack)
• A fixed set of 56 cards
• One Legend Rare Card
• Two playsheets
• Six dice damage counters
The first booster set, titled “Newtype Rising,” is scheduled for release on July 25th, 2025. Additionally, a crossover product, the “Gundam Card Game: Gundam Assemble Starter Set,” will be available on July 11th, 2025. This hybrid set combines the card game with miniatures from the Gundam Assemble tabletop game!
The Gundam Card Game features new illustrations of Mobile Suits and characters, drawn by a variety of popular illustrators. This rich variation of art in the card lineup will help express a new side to the Gundam series. This game is making waves across the TCG community, and we are excited to be hosting a Beta Play event in February, with more opportunities for players in the coming months.
