Slay the Spire: This is the tabletop version of the bestselling and highly influential video game where players take on the role of one of four unique heroes on an epic adventure to climb the tower and slay the spire. This cooperative adventure pits you and up to three other intrepid explorers on an epic quest consisting of four acts. Expect to take anywhere from an hour to ninety minutes to complete each act. Each act is played out on a reversible board that contains branching paths from the bottom all the way to the top, where a randomized boss awaits. In between you’ll place tokens that serve as random encounters for the level. The difficulty increases with more players, in the form of multiple new monsters to fight. All players can cooperate at their own speed to eliminate the threat. Perfect for anyone who enjoys deckbuilders or fans of the game.

Finally, it’s time to talk about Deadpool & Wolverine. As I write this, I’m picturing tiny versions of each on either shoulder, helping me along. Yes, Logan, I do think they finally got the suit right. And we are definitely NOT going to talk about <REDACTED>…the film may be R rated, but this is still a family friendly article, Wade!
OK, third time around with Deadpool. What should we expect? More chimichangas, probably some more explosions, and the fourth wall is going to break so many times it may as well not exist. Deadpool is now running amok in the MCU. Shenanigans are sure to follow. Not to mention this is likely where the floodgates open and mutants finally get to come play in this giant playground Disney has built. Things are going to get extremely meta in this film. It makes me wonder if Deadpool can force another X film into existence, or if there are other factors at play?
Regardless, any film featuring The Best There Is and The Merc With the Mouth is bound to be entertaining. The film is out 26 JULY 2024.
