The next Magic the Gathering set, titled The Wilds of Eldraine, will debut in the first week of September, and it’s a perfect way to kick off the fall season. This set has a twisted fairy tale theme – you’ll see cards referencing many beloved stories including Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and many more! Here are some highlights of what’s new in gameplay for this magical set:
New Mechanic – Roles: These are enchantments that attach to a creature to affect their abilities and further compliment the stories being referenced.
New Mechanic – Bargain: A play on trading and bartering, this mechanic allows players to sacrifice an artifact, enchantment or token in order to gain something else in return.
Returning Mechanic – Adventure: These sorceries are exiled and then allow the player to cast the main spell (the creature) of the card from exile later.
Returning Mechanic – Saga: These cards reference and build a story as they are built up with counters.
This is an enchanting set that will also feature beautiful card treatments done in a storybook style, including borderless treatments, the new confetti foil treatment, alternate anime art versions of some cards, and more!
If you want to experience this set as soon as possible, check out our pre-release events taking place from September 1st-5th. Sealed format events take place on Friday, Saturday and Monday, Two Headed Giant will return for its usual Sunday slot, and we’ll have a Draft event on Tuesday!
