The new “Azurite Sea” set for the Disney Lorcana TCG is all about a high-seas adventure, featuring 204 main cards with vibrant artwork inspired by beloved Disney characters. This is the sixth set for Lorcana, and brings characters from various new Disney franchises, including Big Hero 6 and Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, into a nautical-themed world. The set focuses on pirate elements, “Ink expenditure” mechanics for advanced plays, and special tribal synergies for Aliens, Pirates, and Inventors!
Disney Lorcana is a card game where players become “Illumineers” and use magical ink to summon Disney characters called “glimmers” to collect Lore points. The first player to reach 20 Lore wins. Here’s a simple breakdown of how to play:
1. Set Up
- Deck: Each player uses a deck of 60 cards.
- Game Board: Place your deck in the inkwell zone (a space where you’ll play cards as resources) and leave space for characters and actions.
2. Starting the Game
- Each player draws 7 cards to start.
- Players take turns, and the player who goes second can draw an extra card on their first turn.
3. Turn Structure – Each turn has these steps:
- Draw: Draw 1 card at the beginning of your turn.
- Inkwell: You can place one card from your hand in your inkwell as an ink resource per turn. Ink is used to pay for cards; the more cards in your inkwell, the more powerful cards you can play.
- Play Cards: Use ink to play character, item, or action cards from your hand.
- Quest or Challenge:
- Quest: Use characters to earn Lore points by placing them in a “quest” position. Each character earns a certain amount of Lore.
- Challenge: Send characters to challenge opponents’ characters, which can remove them from gameplay.
