Image Comics is now the third largest publisher in the US (after DC and Marvel) but they continue to produce original stories that feel far from mainstream. Here are a few of our favorite new hits:

Universal Monsters: Frankenstein (Michael Walsh): Reimagining classic horror in a contemporary comic format, this title has garnered critical praise and consistent sales since its release. The Power Fantasy (Kieron Gillen): A meta-commentary on heroism that sold out multiple times. This story follows six individual with the destructive capacity of the nuclear arsenal of the USA, and the imperative that they never come into conflict. But the doomsday clock is ticking…

Houses of the Unholy (Ed Brubaker): In this new graphic novel, an FBI agent from the cult crime beat and a woman with a past linked to the Satanic Panic are drawn into a terrifying hunt for an insane killer hiding in the shadows of the underworld. It’s a riveting thrill ride for lovers of the horror genre that can’t be put down once begun!

Drawing Blood (David Avallone, Kevin Eastman): Described as “totally fictional true story that’s perfect for fans of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” this story follows a washed-up comic book writer who must scrape together enough cash to pay off Lithuanian mobsters.
